Connect Vander Labs to Claude
Claude supports custom connectors: remote MCP servers you add yourself. Vander Labs is one of those. You add it once and it follows your Claude account.
Before you start
- Plan: as of October 2026, custom connectors are available on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans only owners (and, on Enterprise, roles with the right permission) can add a custom connector for the organisation; members then enable it for themselves. If your plan has changed since then, check your plan's current limits.
- Where: set it up in Claude on the web or in the Claude desktop app. Connectors are stored with your account, so once added the connector is available in every Claude client you sign in to.
- Your URL: open Connect and copy your connector URL. It looks like https://vanderlabs.ren16.com/mcp/ followed by a long token. Keep it private.
Steps
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors. In older versions this was under Settings, then Connectors.
- Click Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it Vander Labs.
- Paste your connector URL into the remote MCP server URL field and click Continue.
- Claude checks the server and shows the authentication it detected. Vander Labs needs no sign-in: the URL itself is your key. Under Authentication choose No sign in, then click Add.
- Start a new chat. Click the + button at the lower left of the message box, open Connectors and switch Vander Labs on.
- Test it: ask "What skills do I have in Vander Labs?" Claude should call list_my_skills and read back your library.
Using skills
You do not need to mention Vander Labs once it is connected. Ask for the task the way you normally would. Claude reads the short description of each saved skill, and when a request matches it loads the full instructions with load_skill and follows them. If Claude does not pick up a skill, name it: "Use my Vander Labs skill for cold email review."
If something goes wrong
- Claude says it cannot reach the server: check that you copied the whole URL, with no spaces. If you made a new URL on the Connect page, the old one is dead; remove the connector and add it again with the new URL.
- The connector is added but Claude never uses it: make sure it is switched on in the chat's Connectors menu, and that the skill is actually saved in your Library.
- Team or Enterprise: ask an owner to add the connector for the organisation, then enable it yourself under Customize, then Connectors.
- Still stuck: tell us through the Contact page what you saw and which Claude client you used.
