Vander Labs

Frequently asked questions

The questions members and creators ask most, answered plainly.

What is a skill, exactly?

A skill is a short document (a SKILL.md file) written by a person who does a particular kind of work. It tells an AI assistant when the skill applies, what to ask first, how to work through the task step by step, what to hand back and what to check. When your AI follows it, you get the result an experienced practitioner would produce rather than a generic one.

How do I connect Vander Labs to Claude?

Open the Connect page and copy your connector URL. In Claude (web or desktop), open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, paste the URL and pick No sign in. It works on every Claude plan, including Free. The Claude guide has the details. Claude will list Vander Labs as a connected tool. From then on, when you ask for something that matches a skill in your library, Claude loads it on its own. You can also say "use my Vander Labs skill for X" to be explicit.

How do I connect to ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code?

Each works as an MCP server over HTTPS, and the Connect page shows the exact steps per client. In short: ChatGPT takes it as a custom MCP server on its Plugins page, on plans and workspaces that allow it (not Free, see the ChatGPT guide); Cursor takes it in its MCP settings as a remote server; Claude Code takes it with a single claude mcp add command that the Connect page prints for you with your URL already filled in. If your client asks for a transport type, choose Streamable HTTP.

Can I use skills in Claude Code?

Yes. Add the connector with the command shown on the Connect page. Claude Code will see the skills in your library and load the relevant one when you ask for something that matches, for example a pull request review or a database schema. Skills for code, data and writing work especially well there because the output lands directly in your project.

What does Vander Labs see when my AI uses a skill?

Three things: which skill was loaded, when, and the name and version of the AI client that asked. That record shows up in your activity feed and is used to pay creators. We never receive your prompt, your AI's reply, your files or anything else from the conversation. The protocol does not send it to us, and we do not want it.

How many skills can I save on the Free plan?

Five. You can swap them whenever you like by removing one and saving another. The Pro plan, when it launches, removes the limit.

How much does Pro cost, and can I pay now?

Pro is provisionally $9 a month. Payments are not live yet; Vander Labs is in preview. You can join the waitlist on the pricing page and we will tell you when Pro opens. Nothing is charged during the preview.

How do refunds work?

During the preview nothing is charged, so there is nothing to refund. When payments go live we will publish refund terms alongside the payment terms, before anyone pays.

How are creators paid?

Each month, 60 percent of what a Pro member paid is set aside for the creators of the skills that member's AI actually loaded that month. The pool is split by distinct days each skill was used. If your AI used one creator's skill on eight days and another's on two days, the first creator gets 80 percent of your creator share. Skills you saved but never used earn nothing from you. During the preview these figures are shown for information and no money moves.

How do I publish a skill?

Sign in, open Studio and start a new skill. Fill in the title, summary, what the AI learns, steps, limits and an optional related video, then paste your SKILL.md. Submit it for review. For creators explains what we look for.

How long does review take?

Usually within 3 days. We read every skill for originality, specificity and safety. If something needs changing you will get a note in Studio and can resubmit. We do not publish medical, legal or financial advice presented as personal guidance, anything security-offensive, or copied content.

Do I keep ownership of my skills?

Yes. You own what you write. You grant Vander Labs a license to host your skill and deliver it to members' AI assistants, and you can unlist it at any time. Members may use your skill through their own AI but may not copy or redistribute its text.

What if a skill is wrong or gives bad results?

Tell us. Use the report option on the skill page or the contact form, with the skill link and what went wrong. We will review it, ask the creator to fix it, or unlist it. Remember that a skill guides your AI; the result still depends on your AI and your prompt, so check important work before relying on it.

Can I update a skill after it is published?

Yes. Edit it in Studio and submit the update. It goes through the same review, and members who saved it get the new version automatically. The version number on the skill page shows what changed.

How do I reset my connector URL?

On the Connect page choose Make a new URL (in Settings: Make a new connector URL). A new URL is created and the old one stops working immediately. Do this any time you think the URL has been shared or pasted somewhere it should not be. You will need to update the URL in your AI client.

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings and choose Delete account. This removes your profile, library, connector, activity linked to you and any draft skills. If you are a creator with published skills, unlist them first if you do not want them to remain; otherwise they are removed from delivery as part of deletion. Aggregated payment records that no longer identify you may be kept for accounting.
