Vander Labs is a remote MCP server that uses the Streamable HTTP transport, with no authentication beyond the token in your URL. Any client that can add a remote MCP server by URL can use it. Below are the three we are asked about most, then the general recipe.

What you need

  • Your connector URL from Connect. It looks like https://vanderlabs.ren16.com/mcp/ followed by a long token.
  • A client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP. Clients that only run local (stdio) servers cannot connect directly.

Claude Code

  1. In a terminal, run the command below, replacing YOUR_TOKEN with the token from your URL.
  2. Run claude mcp list to confirm Vander Labs is configured, or type /mcp inside a Claude Code session to see its status.
  3. Ask Claude Code "What skills do I have in Vander Labs?"
claude mcp add --transport http vanderlabs https://vanderlabs.ren16.com/mcp/YOUR_TOKEN

If you prefer a file, add this to the .mcp.json in your project, or to your user-level MCP configuration so it does not end up in a shared repository:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "vanderlabs": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://vanderlabs.ren16.com/mcp/YOUR_TOKEN"
    }
  }
}

Cursor

  1. Create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json to make it available in every project.
  2. Add the entry below with your URL and save.
  3. Check Cursor's MCP settings to confirm Vander Labs is enabled and shows three tools.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "vanderlabs": {
      "url": "https://vanderlabs.ren16.com/mcp/YOUR_TOKEN"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

  1. Open the Command Palette and run MCP: Add Server.
  2. Choose the HTTP (remote) server type, paste your URL and name it vanderlabs.
  3. Choose where to save it (workspace or user). VS Code writes the configuration for you. Its own format uses a top-level servers object; the portable .mcp.json format is the same as the Claude Code example above.

Any other client

Look for MCP servers, custom connectors or remote servers in the client's settings. Add a new server of type HTTP (sometimes labelled Streamable HTTP or remote), paste your URL and leave authentication empty. The client should discover three tools: list_my_skills, search_skills and load_skill. If the client only offers SSE, check whether it has been updated; Vander Labs speaks Streamable HTTP.

Keep the URL private

Configuration files are easy to commit by accident. If your project is in a shared repository, put the Vander Labs entry in your user-level configuration rather than the project file. If the URL leaks, make a new one on the Connect page; the old one stops working at once.
