How the Skill Index ranks skills

The Skill Index ranks every public blueprint and skill on Vander Labs by a score from 0 to 100, updated daily. The score answers a plain question: when people's AI uses this skill, does the work come out well, and do they come back to it?

The four signals

  • Review, 35%. Vander Labs reviewers score each skill from 0 to 100. A skill without a review score yet, including every Vander Labs Original today, counts as 60, a neutral starting point.
  • Outcomes, 30%. After a task, the member's AI reports through the connector's report_outcome tool whether the skill worked, partly worked or failed. It can add an optional short note, with no personal data. Each member can report at most once per skill per day.
  • Repeat use, 20%. The share of members who load the skill on 2 or more separate days within 60 days.
  • Reach, 15%. How many members used the skill in the last 30 days, on a log scale, so ten times the members does not mean ten times the points.

Why a few uses do not swing it

Each signal starts from a neutral prior. A new skill with three good reports does not jump to the top, and one bad day does not sink a good skill. As real use builds up, the skill's own numbers take over from the prior.

What can not move the score

  • Money. Rankings can not be bought.
  • Vander Verified. It adds a badge, never points.
  • Repeated reports. One member's AI can report on a skill at most once a day.

Privacy

Outcome reports are linked to the member's account only so that each one counts once a day. The index shows scores and rankings, never members. Creators see their skills' outcome rate, never which members reported.

For members

You do not have to fill anything in. When you tell your AI how a task went, it can report the outcome itself.

For creators

Specific instructions, a clear output format and honest limits are what lift outcomes and repeat use. How to write a skill has the details.
